It's late and this week my time was consumed by projects and due dates, so I'll return to the Emerging Parasites series next week. Until then, enjoy this video of the Naturebreak Network's founder removing a botfly larvae from her scalp. You may not want to be eating anything while you watch. Or planning a trip to the tropics.
A tip of the hat to BoingBoing for spotting this one.
Ohhh . . . my god . . .
Kudos to her (and the guy - but it wasn't his head) for being so cool about it. I'm sure I wouldn't have been.
I wish I hadn't seen that.

I thought it was pretty cool.
Did you know there's a whole "home surgery" category on Youtube?
Well, now you do. You can thank me later.

Hooray for Friday Parasites... more fun than Monday Metazoans... but I kind of prefer the ugly beasties that infest other species (as opposed to those infesting my species).

Glad you like them. And it's Friday again...
