The Urey-Miller and Ponnamperuma experiments as explained by Julia Child. I love how she uses her french knife as a pointer...
Thanks to the incredibly talented Sarah McMenamin for the URL.

How do you know Sarah? I know her from school (of course) and I concur that she is 100% awesome.
Just like Julia's explanation of primordial soup.

I actually know her from school, too. Sarah was one of my students at Mount Holyoke.

I first saw this over on Pharyngula and called my wife over to watch it. We both had a good chuckle as it is so incongrous watching Julia "cook" up a batch of primordial soup. The knife pointer was funny as were the little scientific pinches of metallic salts. And... it's educational.

Cambias says he remembers seeing this video when he visited the Air and Space museum as a child; I was (alas) not so well traveled at that age.
