A group of computer scientists at RPI have created what is apparently the world's first deliberately evil artificial intelligence. This is just asking for some underpaid post-doc to accidentally give it control of deadly robot war machines. Don't people watch movies any more?
Seriously, the project is actually an attempt to study moral reasoning -- attempting to work out the logical foundation of morality. That's a very interesting project, especially if it can lead to a basis for morality which doesn't rest on supernatural authority (or sheer brute force).
