All over the world, people are celebrating Christmas today. I'd like to give a special Merry Christmas to three people who are celebrating Christmas beyond the world. The crew of the International Space Station -- commander Michael Lopez-Alegria, engineer Mikhail Tyurin, and astronaut Sunita Williams -- are reportedly spending a "quiet Christmas" aboard the station. They got rid of their holiday guests early, as the shuttle Discovery undocked and dropped back to Earth on the 22nd (after some concern that they might have to delay because of weather).
NORAD has footage of Santa Claus paying a visit to the ISS last night. Those guys track everything.
Merry Christmas to all, and have a scientifically cool New Year!
