A large meteorite hit northern Norway last week. The impact probably caused a blast as powerful as one of the original atomic bombs.
We warned you!
Suddenly SPACEGUARD sounds like a really good idea. A really really good idea. This impact was in an uninhabited area, and so was the Tunguska event. But we won't keep getting lucky forever. Sooner or later something's going to hit a populated area and do a lot of damage. Surely this is something which just about everyone of every nationality and political persuasion can agree on: large rocks falling from space are a Bad Thing. Let's do something about it.
Think of the baby moose!
A baby moose once bit my sister.

Monday, June 19: They're downgrading this one a bit now -- the impact only released as much energy as 300 tons of TNT. Apparently objects this size hit the Earth EVERY MONTH.
