Here's what all the cool kids are going to be wearing in 2020: printed circuit contact lenses. Why? Well, of course they look all cyborgy and cool, but they can also be used to put a display screen right up against your eyeball where nobody else can watch it. There's plenty of legitimate applications -- helping the disabled control things via a computer interface, military targeting devices, wicked cool video games, etc. But it's hard to avoid the thought that the majority of contact-screens will be used for playing games or surfing naughty Web sites when the wearers are supposed to be paying attention to something else. Anyway, there's a neat picture of a bunny with creepy cyborg eyes at the other end of the link.

Lookin forward to this tech in a decade or 2. Luckily im young enough that i probably wont be dead by then.

Now find an article about cars that drive themselves because between cell phones and eyeball computers, the drivers of the future aren't ever going to be looking at the road. I love these techno-gizmos but they worry me sometimes.
It used to be that when I walked through the park and saw someone gesticulating and talking to thin air, I knew they were a little off kilter but now I don't know if they are borderline psychotic or just using their bluetooth cellphone earpiece. What will it mean in the future when you see someone sitting with a blank stare sort of nodding and shaking their head? Quietly going crazy or reading their email on their contact lens screen?
