NASA has a name for its new generation of large launch vehicles (that's what you and I call "rockets"). The Ares. Hmm -- the ancient Greek god of War. Also known as Mars. Wonder where they're planning on going with those things? Rand Simberg at Transterrestrial Musings has more.
Of course, the name may not be anything but a cool name. The Saturn rockets never went beyond Earth orbit, and the Apollo program did not land men on the Sun. (Which probably is for the best, really.)
